Causes and Solutions for Inkjet Printer Nozzle Clogging
Nozzle clogging is one of the most common failures of inkjet printers. It is usually caused by residual ink, working environment and improper operation habits. Timely troubleshooting can restore printing quickly. Proper daily maintenance can effectively prevent nozzle blockage and extend the service life of the print head.
一.Common Causes of Nozzle Clogging
1.Dried residual ink
After shutdown, residual ink stays in the tiny holes of the nozzle. When exposed to air for a long time, the solvent evaporates and the ink dries up, blocking the nozzle holes. This issue frequently happens if the machine is left unused for days.
2.Poor ink quality
Non-original or low-quality compatible ink contains large particles and impurities, which tend to precipitate and block nozzles. Mixing different types of ink will cause chemical reactions and form sediment.
3.Unfavorable working environment
Dusty surroundings or low air humidity lead to dust mixing with ink on the nozzle surface. High temperature speeds up solvent evaporation and makes ink dry faster.
4.Improper operation habits
Long-time continuous operation without regular cleaning; failure to keep the nozzle moist after printing; dust and ink buildup on the nozzle without timely wiping.
5.Impurities in ink cartridge & ink path
Sediment inside the ink cartridge and dirt accumulated in ink tubes will flow to the nozzle along with ink and block the tiny holes.
二.Solutions for Nozzle Clogging
1.Light clogging (broken or missing print lines)
Dip a lint-free soft cloth with a small amount of special cleaning fluid, gently wipe the nozzle surface. Do not rub hard to avoid damaging the nozzle. Test printing after wiping.
2.Moderate clogging (hard to print words)
Soak only the nozzle part in professional nozzle cleaning liquid (do NOT submerge the circuit part). Soak for several minutes to dissolve dried ink, wipe clean and test print.
3.Severe clogging (no printing at all)
If cleaning fails after multiple attempts, do not keep spraying forcefully, which may permanently damage the print head. Contact manufacturer support for professional cleaning or nozzle replacement.
❗Important Notes: Never use tissue or ordinary rags to wipe the nozzle. Tissue fibers will stick to nozzles and worsen clogging. Do not rinse the nozzle directly with water.
三. Daily Maintenance & Prevention
1.When the machine is not in use, always put the nozzle back into the moisturizing cover to keep it wet and prevent ink drying.
2.Use high-quality ink matching your model. Do not mix ink from different brands.
3.Keep the working area clean and reduce dust.
4.Clean and moisturize the nozzle before long-term storage.
5.Check the nozzle surface regularly and remove surface dust on time.
